Learning Partnership
Welcome to FIFTH grade!
I look forward for the opportunity to work with your child. The fifth grade is a big step and a year of many changes. It is an exciting transition into the middle school!
I am focused upon providing quality instruction for my students and expect the same good work ethic in return. I believe that every minute in the classroom should be directed toward learning.
One of the goals that I strive to achieve is a close student-parent-teacher partnership where we all work together to maximize student learning. The Learning Partnership below outlines the roles we have that keep our classroom running smoothly and the students achieving academic success.
Student Responsibilities
* Keep track of your own books and assignments.
* Start your work on time and allow for enough time to finish.
* Ask for help when you need it.
* Do your own work.
* Turn in your work on time.
* Accept responsibilities for grades and behavior.
* Keep parents correctly informed of grades.
* Be courteous to others during work and play.
Parent Responsibilities
* Encourage a positive attitude toward schoolwork and learning.
* Help your child balance homework and school assignments with other responsibilities.
* Set up a regular, uninterrupted study/homework time each day - particularly for reading!
* Help your child find the answer while not providing the answer for them.
* Contact the teacher in a timely manner to stay well informed and express any concerns.
* Communicate high standards and expectations toward learning and good behavior from your child.
* Praise and encourage good work, effort and behavior.
Teacher Responsibilities
* Create and establish a safe and nurturing classroom climate.
* Prepare quality lessons and activities that engage student learning.
* Keep parents and students informed of upcoming assignments, tests and projects.
* Establish open communication with parents regarding their child's progress.
* Encourage each student to be empowered with their knowledge and talents to succeed and feel confident and special.
* Praise and encourage good work, effort and behavior.
